Significant Construction Activities in Small Cities Area

Look Ahead on Contracts E1 and E2

  • The contractor continues construction of the center area of the new I-10 mainlanes between Silber and Campbell. This involves removal of the old I-10 westbound mainlanes and frontage roads within these limits. Partial removal of the old I-10 westbound bridges over Chimney Rock and Bingle has been completed for this phase of work and the construction of the new bridge structures at Bingle, Chimney Rock, Antoine and Silber is in progress.
  • The contractor continues to install temporary and permanent drainage, temporary retaining walls and dirt embankments in the construction area between the new I-10 westbound mainlanes and the existing I-10 eastbound mainlanes within the limits of Bingle and Silber.
  • Construction continues on the grading and dirt embankment work for the final portion of the new I-10 eastbound mainlanes between Gessner and Campbell.
  • The final portion of the new I-10 eastbound mainlane pavement, permanent retaining walls and bridge structures at Gessner, Bunker Hill, Blalock and Campbell remain under construction.
  • The contractor continues construction on the permanent drainage system along the existing I-10 eastbound frontage road between Gessner and Bunker Hill, and between Blalock and Campbell.
  • Permanent I-10 eastbound exit and entrance ramps between Gessner and Campbell remain under construction.
  • The contractor continues the installation of the permanent waterline and sanitary sewer systems on the north and south sides of the project between Gessner and Campbell.

Closures Use Link to Access Daily Updated Closures.

  • Weekend closures are expected in April 2007 for the intersections of Gessner, Bunker Hill, Blalock and Campbell to allow the contractors to install the bridge beams for the new bridge structures.
  • Weekend closures are expected in April and May 2007 for the intersections of Bunker Hill and Gessner to facilitate the completion of permanent storm sewer crossings.
  • The closure of the I-10 eastbound exit and entrance ramps to Bunker Hill has been extended through summer 2007.
  • The left auxiliary lane of the I-10 eastbound frontage road will be closed from Gessner to Campbell through the remainder of the project (mid-2008) for the installation of a new drainage system, construction of the permanent I-10 eastbound entrance and exit ramps, and final construction of the permanent
    I-10 eastbound frontage road.

Please note that all closures are subject to change due to inclement weather.
